Improved monitoring and reporting mean better reliability
Virginia Beach, VA – October
3, 2007 – The GBS Group today announced
the release of its innovative Maintenance Events Analysis Program
remote monitoring and maintenance support system, known as
MEAP™. This comprehensive end-to-end solution for analysis
and wireless transfer of critical faults and alerts uses the
company’s ME-1000™ devices, CMULink™ software,
standard cellular communications, and GPS modems to ensure
rapid, real-time communications between rolling stock equipment
and maintenance personnel wayside. MEAP™ provides continuous
monitoring of embedded sensors and immediately transfers critical
maintenance event and fault data wayside to speed diagnostics,
promote faster repairs at station stops, and increase overall
train reliability and availability. The ultimate benefit is
an improved passenger experience for transit customers.
“The ability to remotely monitor the health of a locomotive
is very effective and gives Transportation and Mechanical personnel
knowledge of train health in real time and that is vital to improving
revenue route reliability,” said Bob Golden, CEO of The GBS
Group. “Our engineers have been working with transit agencies
to develop this system. The system has been tested and is working
well. We are automatically extracting and analyzing system faults.
Faults are reported within two minutes of discovery by the MEAP™ system.
This is a very powerful tool and an exciting leap forward for rolling
stock maintenance.”
